Donors often give for specific purposes — facilities, faculty research, technology on campus, athletics, scholarships and financial aid for low-income students. The Wexner Foundation said it’s breaking off ties with Harvard University, alleging the school has been “tiptoeing” over Hamas’ attacks. Lawrence Summers, the former president of Harvard and US Treasury Secretary, has criticized the “morally unconscionable” student statement and Harvard leaders’ response. But he said that financial threats from donors were not the right solution to influencing universities’ positions on these issues. Organizers of the Palestine Writes festival denied that it embraced antisemitism, according to UPenn student newspaper The Daily Pennsylvanian.

REUTERS/Charles Mostoller/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsSept 21 (Reuters) - Magellan Midstream Partners' (MMP.N) unitholders on Thursday voted in favour of its sale to larger rival ONEOK Inc (OKE.N) for $18.8 billion, creating one of the largest U.S. energy pipeline companies. Independent proxy advisory firms Glass Lewis & Co and ISS had recommended a vote in favor of the sale. Magellan, in its proxy, cautions that the merger is not conditioned on the compensation vote and that if the acquisition is approved, the executive compensation is payable. Michael Mears, Magellan's previous chief executive officer, also would receive about $26.5 million in equity, while the company's current chief commercial officer and general council will receive multi-million dollar packages. Magellan, however, said it expects ONEOK to consider the outcome of the compensation vote, along with other factors, when considering future executive pay.

Lengths of pipe wait to be laid in the ground along the under-construction Mountain Valley Pipeline near Elliston, Virginia, U.S. September 29, 2019. REUTERS/Charles Mostoller/File PhotoAug 1 (Reuters) - U.S. energy company Equitrans Midstream (ETRN.N) on Tuesday said it still expects to complete the Mountain Valley natural gas pipeline by the end of the year despite being tangled in numerous court fights since construction began in 2018. Mountain Valley is key to unlocking gas supplies from Appalachia, the nation's biggest shale gas-producing basin in Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia. When Mountain Valley started construction in February 2018, Equitrans estimated the 2.0-billion cubic feet per day project would cost about $3.5 billion and enter service by late 2018. The 303-mile (488-kilometer) Mountain Valley project is owned by units of Equitrans, the lead partner building the pipe with a roughly 48.3% interest, NextEra Energy (NEE.N), Consolidated Edison (ED.N), AltaGas (ALA.TO) and RGC Resources (RGCO.O).

It was the ninth straight month that the PMI stayed below the 50 threshold, which indicates contraction in manufacturing, the longest such stretch since the 2007-2009 Great Recession. The ISM survey's forward-looking new orders sub-index increased to 47.3 in July. According to the ISM, the delivery performance of suppliers to manufacturing firms has been faster for 10 straight months. It has, however, not been a reliable predictor of manufacturing employment in the government's nonfarm payrolls count. Manufacturing employment likely rose by 5,000 jobs last month, according to a Reuters survey of economists.

The emissions were equal to the annual greenhouse gas emissions of more than 59,000 automobiles, according to the EPA’s greenhouse gas equivalency calculator. Under such a scenario Duke Energy would likely have years of low emissions punctuated by a single year of high emissions. While other utilities have participated for decades in a voluntary program with the EPA to reduce SF6 emissions to next to nothing, Duke Energy has not. Brooks said Duke Energy is also targeting its most leaky equipment for faster replacement. The figure is roughly half of 1% of all greenhouse gas emissions worldwide, far smaller than yearly emissions of carbon dioxide, the primary driver of climate change.
